What to Expect
So you’ve heard about Harris Chapel Baptist Church, and you are a little curious.
Going to a new place can be intimidating and scary. How will I know where to park? What if my kid has to go to the bathroom? What time should I be there? We’ve asked those questions too. Please know we will make every effort to make sure your first experience is worry free. We look forward to meeting you and becoming friends as we worship together.
Arrival
Sonday School begins at 9:30 AM. A greeter will help you find a class that you feel comfortable in. We have Sonday School classes for every age, from babies to senior adults. This is a great time to make friends and meet the people who are part of the Harris Chapel family. Our Sunday morning worship service begins at 10:30 AM.
If You Have Children
When it's time for worship service, we have a fun opportunity for your children in the activity building. Our best volunteers are helping with our little ones so you can focus on having a great experience in the service. Their background checks have been cleared and they are all trained to take care of little ones properly. Our leaders will give 100% of their care while making it a fun experience to learn about lessons from the Bible.
Early Childhood (birth – Pre K)
Leaving your baby with a stranger can be tough, that is why we have made every effort to make it comfortable and safe. Our babies are cared for in the nursery area, which is downstairs in the educational wing. One of our greeters will show you where the nursery is located. If an emergency arises, a volunteer will come find you during the service.
Children's Church (Kindergarten – 6th Grade)
This will be best hour of your kid’s day. They will laugh, sing, play, and learn with new friends and amazing leaders. Our goal is to help you lead your child to become a life long follower of Christ. Kids deserve our best and know we believe in them. Caring team leaders will make sure every kid feels welcomed and is connecting to other students.
Worship
At 10:30 each Sunday morning, we gather in the sanctuary to worship. Sit wherever you feel comfortable and don't worry about anyone making you stand up and say your name. You can hide in the crowd and no one will point you out or embarrass you! We want you to feel comfortable and at home in our church family.
Music
During our worship service, you will enjoy special music from our choir and other soloists. We have a blended worship style with a mix of traditional hymns and modern praise choruses. The words to all of our songs will be on the screen up front so you can easily follow along.
Preaching
Pastor Josh always brings us a special message during our worship time. You might notice some notes on the big screen, which will correspond with the outline in your bulletin. This will help you follow along. Feel free to jot down notes if you would like! Pastor Josh is passionate about the Word of God and he challenges us each week with a relevant message.
Closing
After the message, there will be a time of invitation. During these special moments, our altar is opened for everyone to come forward to pray. You might see people coming to the front and kneeling or gathering to pray with others. Feel free to get up and join them! Pastor Josh is at the front if you want Him to pray with you. If you are seeking baptism, church membership, or if you have questions about how to ask Jesus to be your Savior, come to the front and Pastor Josh will talk with you during this time.
